OMFG! Amazing!
The TIO has just called me and told me they have confirmation that the record of my debt has been removed. I called Veda Advantage to confirm this and they said it was deleted this morning. I even called Vodafone and thanked them for following it up and getting the issue resolved.
Now tonight I can do the last couple of bits needed for my mortgage application!
I’m so excited now!
The TIO just called me back and let me know they are following up on the complaint. Looks like they’re being very proactive (always a nice surprise from a government department). Hopefully this issue will be resolved very soon.
I got another call from one of the mortgage brokers at Aussie Home Loans today. She was wondering how I was going with getting everything sorted for my mortgage application. I told her that I still hadn’t had the credit reference with Veda Advantage updated and that I would contact her as soon as possible to get the application lodged.
I then called Veda and asked if the status on the Vodafone listing had been updated, which of course it hasn’t been.
I have now called the TIO and updated them on the situation. They have informed me that they will investigate the matter and will get back to me within 24 hours, they also told me that from this point Vodafone will have 21 days to finalise the issue. I informed the TIO that I would be happy with a comment from Vodafone that Veda has been advised that the listing is to be withdrawn.
Here’s hoping that everything will be sorted very quickly so I can get my mortgage application in and hopefully buy a house.
While I’m having a bitch about banks I may as well have a bitch about phone companies too.
About 4 and a half years ago I diisputed a bill with Vodafone. At the time I thought the issue had been resolved (I can’t even remember what the issue was now); but apparently Vodafone decided to list it as an unpaid bill with Veda Advantage (a credit reporting agency). Vodafone was supposed to send me notification of the listing, but I never recieved it so I was completely unaware of this listing until I applied for a mortgage.
Eventually I got through to a guy by the name of Mark who was able to assist me with resolving the issue and we agreed that I would pay the outstanding balance (I figured I can’t continue disputing the bill if I can’t even remember what the issue was) and that Vodafone would remove the listing with Veda Advantage. Mark also agreeded to accept a payment of 2/3rds of the value of the outstanding balance.
Over two weeks ago I sent Vodafone a bank cheque for the amount Mark and I had agreed upon and it has been confirmed by Vodafone that they recieved this cheque on the 9th of September. At present Vodafone still has not updated my credit report and this is stopping me from getting a mortgage to purchase a house I have seen.
I wonder how long it will take or if I will have to have another discussion with the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman to get this sorted out. I just hope that everything gets sorted out and I can get pre-approval for my mortgage before the house I have seen sells.
